This year, as always, we are ‘thankful’ for our family and friends. But to be specific, we are thankful to have two healthy, beautiful kids. Not sure if the kids are thankful to have two somewhat ’sane’ parents! Here are the photos from our fun and utterly chaotic Thanksgiving. The house was filled with about 10 adults, six children running around high on pumpkin pie (well, Lila was not running), 1 yummy turkey, 1 large ham, lots of delicious sides, and tons of laughter!
When we go to Seattle, our free time is always so limited. One dear friend that I got a chance to visit with had a mastectomy last week. It all seemed so fast. I received word about three weeks ago that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Apparently, the cancer was aggressive and the surgeons urged her to get surgery as soon as possible. This was really shocking for my friend as there is no family history of breast cancer and that she is still very young. My friend had her second baby approximately three months ago. As usual, when you are a nursing mom, you always feel lumps around your breast. You always think that it’s a milk duct that is clogged, but luckily, my friend decided to get it checked out. I am so pleased that she is doing well post-op. She told me that she was at Target the day after her surgery! She received word from her doctor the other day that she will not have to go through any chemo or radiation therapy. Once again, God is great.
Lila says, “Hey Miles, sit back, I wanna be in the picture too!”
UTTER CHAOS, trying to get all the grandkids together for Christmas photos!
Two, to, too! Toys, toys toys! Miles turns 2. This was the theme today.
Miles received a Mr. Potato Head from his friend, Andrew. But…Miles thought he would put Mr. Potato Head’s glasses on his sister instead…Perhaps Miles thought Lila would be a good Mrs. Potato Head…This ain’t no Yukon Gold, this is a Russet Baker.
Momma thought it would be fun to take a picture of Lila’s new teeth, then decided we should take pictures of everybody’s teeth. Don’t look too close, we took these after dinner and clearly papa needs to brush.
Miles 2nd birthday is approaching (November 22nd) and we decided this year that we are not going to throw a birthday party for him. Miles birthday falls the weekend before Thanksgiving, but I am sure my parents will want to do something for him over Thanksgiving weekend. We’ll visit the grandparents in Seattle for Thanksgiving weekend, but I have already told my mom that I do not want to do anything. Oh, maybe go on a fun date with my husband! They can babysit the kids. Anyway, I digress… If the grandparents want to do so, then that is great. My mom said that she has invited “just a couple of people over to celebrate.” Bottom line, we are just tired, lazy and not in the mood. Is that lame? Any parent knows that it is VERY exhausting throwing a party. The child gets overwhelemed and the parents are up to their ears with pint size kids running around. Besides, Miles won’t know the difference what day it is. He’s just happy with his new Thomas slippers.
